Taidehistorian seura - Föreningen för konsthistoria ry

Publications

The main purpose of the Society for Art History in Finland has been since its founding  to issue its own scholarly series, Taidehistoriallisia tutkimuksia – Studier i konsthistoria (Studies in Art History). Members of the Society receive discounts on the publications of the Society, the Finnish Historical Society, the Finnish Society of Church History and the Finnish National Committee of ICOMOS. The series are sold and distributed by the Tiedekirja bookstore of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies in Helsinki. Volumes of Taidehistoriallisia tutkimuksia can also be bought at various  events held at departments of art history and in the bookstore of the Turku Art Museum.

The exchange of publications takes place via the publication exchange centre of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. The Society has agreements for exchanging publications with a total 25 corresponding bodies.
Additions are made to the Society's series according to need and not necessarily every year. The Board of the Society decides on the material to be published and participates, where necessary, in the work of the editorial committee in question. The chairperson of the Society is also the editor-in-chief of the series. Proposals for publications can be submitted to the Board. The Academy of Finland and the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies have partly funded several publications, while others have been issued through tabula gratulatoria subscriptions or with other outside funding.

The series includes festschrifts for professors in art history (nos. 4, 14, 16, 17, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, 31, 33), material prepared by working groups, congress publications and doctoral dissertations (nos. 15, 24, 30, 34, 35, 37). The texts are in Finnish, the Nordic languages, English and German.
